The Department of Justice’s Office of Information Policy (OIP), and the Office of Government Information Services (OGIS) invite you to a virtual Best Practices Workshop Series on FOIA and technology on Monday April 20, 2020. The event is open to Federal employees and contractors who must use their government email addresses to register online.
The workshop will focus on a presentation of the Chief FOIA Officer Council Technology Committee’s recent work, by co-chairs Eric Stein, Department of State, and Michael Sarich, Veterans Health Administration, including key findings and best practices on agencies’ use of technology to improve FOIA administration. Workshop attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions on using technology to implement and improve the FOIA process. OIP and OGIS encourage attendees to come ready with questions and items for discussion, particularly as they relate to challenges raised by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
For anyone who is unable to participate in the workshop, OIP will add a summary of the best practices discussed to its website. If you are a Federal FOIA professional interested in serving on the Technology Committee, click here to learn more.
Members of the public who wish to learn more about the work of the Technology Committee can watch Stein’s and Sarich’s presentation at the FOIA Advisory Committee‘s September 6, 2019 meeting by clicking here and beginning the video at minute 21.
