Technology vendors and innovators working in the FOIA space: the submission deadline for the NexGen FOIA Tech Showcase has been extended!

The Chief FOIA Officers (CFO) Council Technology Committee, in partnership with OGIS and the Department of Justice Office of Information Policy (OIP), has extended the deadline for written requests for information (RFIs) for the NexGen FOIA Tech Showcase 3.0 to March 27, 2026.

The FOIA NexGen Tech Showcase will be virtual May 12–14, 2026. This showcase will highlight for federal FOIA professionals and agency technology staff  innovative technology that can help federal agencies improve FOIA processing, including tools for:

  • FOIA case management
  • AI-supported case processing and redaction
  • eDiscovery and electronic search
  • FOIA reading rooms and websites
  • Customer experience and self-service portals
  • Analytics and performance tools
  • Integration and records management connectivity

Following the success of NexGen FOIA Tech Showcases in 2022 and 2024, this year’s event will again spotlight emerging technologies—especially AI-enabled tools—that can help agencies streamline FOIA workflows and improve transparency.

The showcase helps fulfill Recommendation 2024-12 from the 2022-2024 term of the FOIA Advisory Committee that the CFO Technology Committee and interested agency publish RFIs on the subject of AI tools and techniques as an aid to FOIA processing.

Interested vendors should submit a 3–5 page description of the technology tool to be considered for participation. The submission deadline is March 27, 2026 (11:59 PM ET) and responses should be sent to: CFO-Council@nara.gov with the  subject line: RFI Response: NexGen FOIA Tech Showcase 3.0

Selected vendors will be invited to provide short video demonstrations and participate in live Q&A sessions during the event. More information about prior showcases and the RFI process is available here: https://www.foia.gov/chief-foia-officers-council
