April Showers Bring FOIA Meetings

Mark your calendars for two upcoming events!

Please join us on April 7, 2022 as Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Advisory Committee members meet to discuss and vote on draft subcommittee recommendations.

The virtual meeting starts at 10 a.m. ET on April 7. If you wish to speak during the public comment period of the meeting, you must register via Eventbrite by 11:59 p.m. April 5. You may submit written comments to the Committee at any time by emailing them to foia-advisory-committee@nara.gov. Please be sure to review our Posting Policy for Public Comments prior to submitting comments.

We will also livestream the meeting on the National Archives YouTube channel.

On April 21, 2022, the Chief FOIA Officers (CFO) Council will meet at 10 am ET. The meeting is open to Chief FOIA Officers, FOIA professionals and the public. We invite attendees to either register to attend the Webex meeting (if you wish to offer oral comments) via Eventbrite or watch the livestream of the meeting on the National Archives YouTube channel.

The CFO Council, which is co-chaired by the Directors of OGIS and the Department of Justice Office of Information Policy (OIP), is tasked with developing recommendations to increase agency compliance and efficiency, and sharing agency best practices and innovative approaches.

OIP and OGIS will kick off the meeting with FOIA updates and announcements. Then the meeting will focus on the work of the Council’s two committees, the Committee on Cross-Agency Collaboration and Innovation (COCACI) and the Technology Committee.

Are you a government FOIA professional who is intrigued by the work of the two CFO Council Committees? They are always looking for more volunteers! Please indicate your interest to join either (or both!) committees by raising your virtual hand at the April 21st meeting, or contacting Council co-chairs Alina M. Semo and Bobby Talebian.
