Please mark your calendars and join us for several upcoming events in the William G. McGowan Theater at the National Archives in Washington, DC.
The FOIA Advisory Committee meets from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday March 5th to consider proposed recommendations from the FOIA Advisory Committee’s three subcommittees: Records Management, Time/Volume and Vision. Meeting materials will be posted on the Committee’s webpage. If you wish to attend the meeting in person, you must register by midnight EST March 2nd. If you cannot make it in person, watch the meeting via web stream.
A week later, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday March 12th, we are partnering with our colleagues at the Information Security Oversight Office (ISOO) and the National Declassification Center (NDC) on a program to help shed light on the process of obtaining records from the Intelligence Community (IC). Representatives from several IC agencies will join those from ISOO and NDC at the multi-agency OGIS-moderated forum, “Using FOIA to Access Intelligence Community Records.” We will post registration information on the FOIA Ombudsman blog; sign up for email updates by clicking on the “Follow” button to the top and right of this page.
Finally, on the afternoon of Monday March 16th the National Archives will celebrate Sunshine Week with a program featuring welcoming remarks by Archivist of the United States David S. Ferriero, followed by a conversation with Senior U.S. District Court Judge Royce C. Lamberth, former Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. The program also will feature a panel of experts on FOIA and access issues discussing the current transparency landscape. Look for details and registration information that we will post to this blog.
