
The next meetings of the 2024-2026 term of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Advisory Committee are on Thursday, April 2, 2026, and Thursday, May 7, 2026, beginning at 10 a.m. ET. The purpose of the meetings will be to hear reports from and discuss any recommendations from each of the three subcommittees: Statutory Reform, Volume and Frequency, and Implementation.
The Statutory Reform Subcommittee presented three recommendations at the Committee’s March meeting which are expected to be discussed at the April meeting. (For more information about the draft recommendations, read our blog post.) All meeting materials will be posted on the FOIA Advisory Committee website here (April meeting) and here (May meeting) .
These virtual meetings are open to the public in accordance with the Federal Advisory Committee Act. If you wish to offer oral public comments during the public comment period of the meeting, you must register in advance at this link for the April meeting and at this link for the May meeting. Registrants will be provided with information to access the meeting online.
Members of the public attending the meeting via the registration link may comment during the last 15 minutes of the meeting. You are also welcome to submit written comments at any time by using the Public Comments Form. (Please read our policy on posting public comments.)
We also will livestream the meeting on the National Archives YouTube channel but those viewing on YouTube will not be able to make oral public comments.
The final two meetings of the 2024-2026 term of the FOIA Advisory Committee will be on June 11, 2026, and July 16, 2026.
