FOIA Advisory Committee Meets June 12

The next meeting of the 2024-2026 term of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Advisory Committee is on Thursday, June 12, 2025, from 10 a.m. to Noon ET. The Committee will hear updates from its three subcommittees: Statutory Reform, Volume and Frequency, and Implementation. All meeting materials will be posted on the FOIA Advisory Committee website.

This virtual meeting is open to the public in accordance with the Federal Advisory Committee Act. If you wish to offer oral public comments during the public comment periods of the meeting, you must register in advance at https://www.zoomgov.com/webinar/register/WN_jp21CP9oTAeuobFloMxWrw . You will be provided with information to access the meeting online.

Members of the public participating in the meeting via the Zoom link may comment or raise questions during the last 15 minutes of the meeting. You are also welcome to submit written comments at any time by using the Public Comments Form. (Please read our policy on posting public comments.) 

We also will livestream the meeting on the National Archives YouTube channel but those viewing on YouTube will not be able to make oral public comments.

The Statutory Reform Subcommittee is developing concrete recommendations for how Congress can amend the FOIA to improve the requesting experience, address agency processing challenges, and better achieve the goal of open and transparent government in a digital world. The Volume and Frequency Subcommittee is examining the challenges that arise from the increasing volume and complexity of FOIA requests. And the Implementation Subcommittee is working to increase the adoption and integration of past Committee recommendations.
