The next meeting of the 2022-2024 term of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Advisory Committee is on Thursday, June 8, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. ET. This virtual meeting is open to the public and registration is required if you wish to make oral public comments. Please register here by 11:59 p.m. ET on Tuesday, June 6, to receive an email with a link and telephone number for accessing the meeting. Members of the public participating in the meeting via the link may comment or raise questions via telephone during the last 15 minutes of the meeting. You are also welcome to submit written comments at any time by using the Public Comments Form. We also will livestream the meeting on the National Archives YouTube channel but those viewing on YouTube will not be able to make public comments.
The Committee will hear from The MITRE Corporation regarding its FOIA Reference Model, a business specification that describes the FOIA process lifecycle in a common language and provides business and technical stakeholders a tool to analyze FOIA programs and technology. A FOIA Reference Model White Paper and a sample model is available for review ahead of the meeting. The Committee also will hear updates from the three subcommittees looking at implementation of past Committee recommendations, modernization of FOIA administration, and FOIA resources.
